The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ) is an internationally renowned research university and one of the most successful scientific research institutions in Slovakia, not only in terms of financial support for scientific research, but also in terms of achievements in the field of creative activity. UPJŠ was founded in 1959 and is the second largest classical Slovak university with five faculties and approximately 7500 students and 650 teachers/researchers.
The Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Science of UPJŠ are among the most important research institutions that have long-standing research collaborations with a strongly interdisciplinary character - the cooperation established between the faculties is unique and built on many previous research and educational activities. UPJŠ cooperates with judicial institutions in the Slovak Republic (the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic), as well as with professional institutions (e.g. the Slovak Bar Association) and educational institutions (the Judicial Academy). The Faculty of Science is represented in the project by the Laboratory of Intelligent Data Analysis (LIDA). This laboratory continuously works on the development of new methods and applications of existing approaches working with structured and unstructured data. It has developed several computational methods in the field of machine learning that allow to work efficiently with such data - to extract, analyse and visualise it.
